JPG vs PNG vs WEBP: which image format should you use?
20 oktober 2026 · 1 min lezen · Team
Picking the right image format makes files smaller and keeps them looking good.
JPG — for photos
JPG uses lossy compression that is very efficient for photographs. It does not support transparency. Use it for camera photos and exam uploads.
PNG — for logos, screenshots and transparency
PNG is lossless and supports transparent backgrounds. Text in screenshots stays crisp. Photos saved as PNG are usually much larger than JPG.
WEBP — for websites
WEBP supports both lossy and lossless compression and transparency, and is typically 25–35% smaller than JPG or PNG at the same quality. All modern browsers support it.
